Castrol EDGE C3 is a European formulation that is specifically engineered to improve engine durability in European vehicles. It is a full synthetic diesel oil that is suitable for use in automotive diesel engines where the manufacturer requires a 5W-30 oil.
Many European manufacturers specify viscosity requirements that differ with the requirements of ILSAC GF-5. Specifications established by BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Volkswagen demand that oils meet a certain minimum high temperature / high sheer (HTHS) viscosity to provide proper protection.
