LS30 5W-30 Racing Synthetic is designed for high performance LS series engines, LS30 reduces oil consumption by limiting oil vaporization and foaming.
It utilizes advanced mPAO synthetic base oils to reduce valve train noise and to provide high temperature and high shear protection for GM LS based engines with and without variable valve timing.
LS30 delivers industry leading shear stability and HTHS bearing oil film thickness. Ideal for LS-based crate engines and supercharged LS performance engines as well as any performance engine that calls for a 5W-30 viscosity. Viscosity typical of 5W-30.
If your classic car has a modern LS engine, Driven LS Series oil is highly recommended. LS engines have unique features. They use Variable Valve Timing (VVT). They also have tight clearances. “Clearances” are the tiny gaps between moving engine parts. Driven LS30 uses a thinner 5W-30 synthetic formula. This flows easily through tight spaces. It protects the engine at high temperatures. It also has high ZDDP (zinc and phosphorus) levels. ZDDP is an anti-wear additive. It protects your modified engine parts.
Do you have an original or vintage classic engine (like an old carbureted V8)? Do not use Driven LS Series oil. Older engines have “flat tappet” camshafts. They rub against metal pieces called lifters. Vintage engines need 10W-40 or 20W-50 weight oils. This thicker oil protects these parts. Thinner LS oils will cause metal parts to wear away. Older engines also need much higher zinc (ZDDP) levels than modern engines do. Instead of the LS oil, you should use Driven HR Series.
DRIVEN LS30 Racing Oil is formulated for High Performance Engines/Racing applications only. This engine oil will NOT MEET any current API or OEM Engine Oil Specifications.
